Julie Reimann (Cello) holds degrees from Curtis Institute of Music and Stanford University. As a cellist she has studied with Aldo Parisot (Yale University, The Juilliard School of Music), David Soyer (Guarneri String Quartet), Sherill Roberts, and Jenny Langham, and as a chamber musician with numerous mentors, including Felix Galimir, Karen Tuttle, Gary Graffman, and Arnold Steinhardt. Julie has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, and in Europe, and has won a number of competitions, including Gold Medal (New Haven Youth Symphony Young Artists Competition), 1st Prize (Connecticut Chamber Orchestra Young Artists Competition), 1st Place in the Alliance Auditions National Music Competition, and 2nd Prize (Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Junior Division). She has been an invited performer at the Nationale Academie de Violoncelle, Banff Music Festival, Rencontres Musicales d’Evian, Musicorda Music Festival, and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and has performed at Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall. As a soloist and collaborator, she is an active performer in various venues throughout New England and beyond and has performed as a soloist with the Longwood Symphony, Waltham Symphony Orchestra (with whom she also served as Principal Cellist), and the Menotomy Chamber Orchestra, and with the Boston Civic Symphony (as principal cellist), Brockton Symphony Orchestra (as principal cellist), Apollo Ensemble (as principal cellist), National Virtual Medical Orchestra, Boston Music Institute, Lyra Music Festival, as a member of the Ellipsis Chamber Players and the Eleuthera Trio, and is a founding member of the Boston-based piano/cello duo, Duo Amie. Ellyses Kuan (Piano) Ellyses Kuan, a native of Hong Kong, began playing the piano at the age of 3. She received a full scholarship for her master’s degree, studying Piano Performance with Barry Snyder at the Eastman School of Music. She was selected to represent Hong Kong at the International Kirishima Music Festival in Japan. Among her other major teachers were Dr. Siu-Wan Chair Fang and Paul Odette. She has also performed in masterclasses by John Perry, Dang Thai Son, Malcolm Bilson, Alan Chow, Andrew Cooperstock, and Jane MaGrath. As a soloist and collaborator, she has performed in various locations, including the Greater Boston area (MA), New York City (NY), San Diego (CA) , Salt Lake City (UT), Lake Worth (FL), De Pere (WI), Greensboro (NC), Toronto, Japan, and Hong Kong. In 2017, she performed at the 42nd Annual Classical Music Festival at Esterhazy Schloss in Austria. Ellyses is also enthusiastic about chamber music, collaborates with artists from around the world, and is a founding member of the Boston-based piano/cello duo, Duo Amie. She organizes and hosts house concerts at the Alida House Concert Series in the South Shore area and is a partnering artist with Lyra Music Festival. Additionally, she is the founder and music director of EKS Music School, located in Quincy, MA, with a focus on building community, promoting performing arts awareness, and supporting local young musicians through advocacy, inspiration, and performances. Ellyses has received several awards and recognitions for her teaching and musical contributions, including the Steinway & Sons Top Music Teacher award and the Teacher of the Year award from the Massachusetts Music Teacher Association. She is also the Immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Music Teacher Association and has been invited to speak at various music events and conferences. Recently, she was invited to perform at the the Opening Session of MTNA National Conference in 2022, with renowned violinist Adrian Anatawan.
